If everyone in our community would purchase more local items such as merchandise and food, perhaps growing some of their own food, they would offset the amount of money that would be spent on transportation and purchased foods, thus, they would have more disposable income to spend locally. Local merchants would then have more capital to invest in their business.
This would start a cycle of buy local/ sell local that can only help the local economy.
The benefits of shopping local can be seen in every locally owned business. Go ahead and stroll through your downtown and become re-aquainted with the people in your community that are re-investing their profits locally, creating a cycle of growth.
